XML Schemas

Many government processes involve interchange of data. Underpinning these transactions are common data definitions which GovTalk defines as XML schemas for use throughout the public sector.

This section is split into four areas:

|Schema Library

|Schema Search

|Guidance for Developers

|Schema RFP Form

Access to additional core schemas, such as BS7666 Address, Person Information and Identifiers is available in the UK Government Data Standards Catalogue

More documents concerning schemas, including a QA Stylesheet devised for the automatic testing of schemas to check compliance can be found under Guidance for Developers. Further useful information is contained in Change Control Procedures for e-Government Resources

Schema developers may also find the GovTalk Schema Skeleton Generator, available on the Local e-Government Standards Body (LeGSB) website, of assistance in creating compliant schemas.

The XML Schemas FAQ section may also be helpful.
